Tributes and donations made for headteacher of Battle Abbey Prep school

Hundreds of pounds have been raised in memory of a popular headteacher who sadly lost her courageous battle with cancer.

Maria Maslin, 53, who had been at the helm of Battle Abbey Prep School for nine years, was described as “a true inspiration” by friends, colleagues and former pupils.

A statement from the school, which is based in Hastings Road, Bexhill, said everyone was mourning her tragic loss and that thoughts were with her family.

“She remained positive throughout her illness and we have had so many messages of such warmth about her, which have been of great comfort to us and her family,” it stated.

Almost £700 has been donated in her memory to St Michael’s Hospice. Please click here if you’d like to make a donation.

Mrs Maslin’s funeral took place on Monday (August 24th). As it was limited in numbers due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, a community event will be held in her memory later in the year.
